Save Your Ass
An old man a little boy went to town with their donkey. They decided that the boy should ride. But as they walked along a few people commented that it was a shame for a healthy young child to ride while the old man walked.
So, they switched places.
They hadn’t gone far when they passed two women who tsk-asked the old man for making such a young boy walk.
So, they decided it would be best of they both walked.
But then they passed a man who laughed at them and said, “it’s stupid to walk when you have a donkey you could ride”. That made sense, so they decided to both ride.
As they approached town, another passer-by jeered at them saying, “you ought to be ashamed for overloading that poor donkey”.
The old man and boy decided they were probably right, so they got off and started to carry the donkey.
As they crossed the bridge into town, they stumbled and lost their grip. The donkey promptly fell into the river and drowned.
The moral? If you try to please everyone, you’ll just lose your ass.
